The song we are doing from two door cinema club is “cigarettes in the theatre” Lyrics are below;
It starts in the theatre
A night of encounters
If I hadn't been there
If not for a cigarette
A night of encounters
If I hadn't been there
If not for a cigarette
And you could see it change
Look past the blinding light Look past the blinding light
Just keep taking now
Just keep taking now
Tell me your favourite things Tell me your favourite things
Difference in opinion was never an issue
Difference in opinion was never an issue
Collect all your questions
Because this time we've all night
Because this time we've all night
And you could see it change
Look past the blinding light Look past the blinding light
Just keep taking now
Just keep taking now
Tell me your favourite things Tell me your favourite things
And you could see it change
Look past the blinding light Look past the blinding light
Just keep taking now
Just keep taking now
Tell me your favourite things Tell me your favourite things
After looking at the lyrics with my group, we came to a conclusion to include narrative and performance in out music video. This is because we don’t want the audience to get too bored with only narrative based or performance based so we’ll include both; there will be more performance than narrative as we believed too much narrative will get boring and performances are more exiting. The narrative part of the video will be about the first time the Lead singer started talking about the girl of his dreams. “It starts in the theatre” where the Lead singer is smoking outside, when the female character he likes approaches him and asks for a cigarette. He’s really happy about this and they start to talk while smoking and the lead male character hopes and try’s to get her to “Look past the blinding light” referring to the friendliness of giving her a cigarette, to the fact that he likes her. He goes on wanting the conversation to continue so he can find out more about her like her “favourite things” even though they have “difference in opinion” he would believe that this “was never an issue”. Then he reassures himself that he has “all night” to achieve he goal.
We will include many close ups of the band in the music video to show their emotions and so people can recognise their faces as stars. Close ups will allow the audience to relate to the band as they could compare their situations with the band. The location of the narrative part of the music video will be at a cinema. This is a realistic location in which the audience can relate to. There will be an establishing shot for the audience to view the location of the narrative part of the music video so they can understand the narrative better.
